Happy Christmas and New Year

We’d like to take this opportunity to wish all our friends and family a very merry Christmas and a healthy and happy new year. Hopefully we’ll get the chance to catch up with you all in 2007.

Until then we’ll give you a quick outline of some of our highlights of 2006:

  • Surprise gathering for Glyn’s grandad’s 80th in Northumberland in February.
  • A great snowboarding holiday with Rhys and Cam in Bansko, Bulgaria in February to celebrate Glyn’s 30th birthday.
  • Buckets and Sarah’s wedding in Princeton, New Jersey in April.
  • Caught up with Graeme, Katherine and Serena visiting from Hong Kong in Aberdeen in June.
  • Grampian Corby Pipe Band won their grade in the British (June) and the European (July) pipe band championships.
  • Moved to a lovely new house in September (see below).
  • Jo passed her Ph.D viva in October, so must now be referred to as Dr Jo.
  • Jo and Glyn both successfully blagged a yellow corda in our Capoeira group’s batizado in Cambridge in October.

Wor Hoose- the tour

This is a view of the front of our lovely new house for those of you who’ve been too lazy to visit us yet. We moved in on the 29th September 2006. We’re now in a detached house, so our new neighbours need not suffer Joanne’s wailing pipes.

This is the view of the back of our house from the garden.

This is the view of the garden from the study window (top middle window in the photo above). As you can see, it’s a little gravelly, but you can see the summer house and a rather leafless grape vine that grows over the pergola and will hopefully be more healthy-looking in the summer (it was when we first viewed it).

Now we’ll take you into the house, so you can see the rooms downstairs. First we have the lounge.

And this is the dining room. Notice the impressive artwork on the left wall- this is “Misty” painted by Rhys Cowe.

Here we have the kitchen as photographed from the dining room…

… and photographed from the hall.

Now we head upstairs. This first room is our bedroom- there’s an en-suite on the right, but it’s a little small to photograph. It serves the necessary purpose, however. Notice the berimbau on the shelf above the bed (Glyn’s early Christmas present from his parents). Pretty fortunate since the shelf was up already and we were at a loss for what to put on it.

This is the largest spare bedroom- where you get to stay when you come to visit us. We do have another spare bedroom, but that’s not yet in a fit state to be photographed!

This is the main bathroom where you’d be requested to wash if you were particularly stinky. It is multipurpose, since you can also empty bladders and bowels in this room.
