Nascido para jogar capoeira

This is Eilidh in one of her newest outfits – a personalised capoeira vest, courtesy of the Leicester Capoeira club (and designed by Andy)…cheers guys, we love it. You can click on the thumbnail to see the full size image. For those of you not familiar with Portuguese it says ‘born to play capoeira’. We can’t wait to start teaching her some moves although she’s evidently already got the hang of the ginga and was certainly practicing the benção before birth!

Eilidh’s first week

We’ve all had a tiring week so far as you can see from the below pictures, but we’re starting to get the hang of things now.

We even made it out for a walk through the park into town in order to buy Eilidh a new baby bath (she kept pulling the plug out of the sink which had otherwise seemed perfect). All knitwear modelled, by the way, is courtesy of Eilidh’s Auntie Vicky.

You may be getting the impression from the photos so far that she never actually opens her eyes, but here is some evidence that she doesn’t only sleep (although this is an activity that she does seem rather keen on).

Eilidh Jane Cowe

Eilidh Jane Cowe was delivered at 11:13am on Saturday 6th October 2007 weighing 8 lbs 3 oz. In the end she needed a little assistance from a nice doctor with a pair of forceps to pop her head through, but all is now well. For the non-Scots amongst you, Eilidh is pronounced Ay-Lee. Here is a picture of our lovely daughter looking as chilled out as she always has over the last couple of days, despite her dramatic entrance into the world.

Eilidh likes to feed, sleep, poo and wee, cuddles and particularly likes looking cute. Below is a picture taken in the recovery room of Eilidh with Mummy (who herself is looking a lot more chilled out than she was shortly beforehand). Jo is still a little sore and sleepy, but otherwise is very proud and doing great.

Here’s Daddy also looking very proud with his rocking new daughter.

The three of us are now home in Market Harborough. Eilidh slept all the way and is still co-operatively napping while we update the blog before she gets her dinner.

40 weeks + 1 day

This was just before we went to hospital to see if Jo’s suspicions that her waters had broken were correct. They were. This is why this post is only going up now! More information is available in the forthcoming entry…
