Music

Eilidh loves music. She loves dancing to it, singing, playing along to it, in fact any aspect of it makes her really happy. Some nights she’ll be lying in her cot singing ‘Old MacDonald had a Farm’ for about 20 minutes before falling asleep – it’s hilariously cute to listen to and goes something like “Ee-ay-ee-ay-oh, duck, Ee-ay-ee-ay-oh, pig, Ee-ay-ee-ay-oh…” and so on. Occasionally an animal sound will also go in between the Ee-ay-ee-ay-oh’s. She’ll also have a dance to almost any style of music. At the moment she particularly likes Ring a Ring o’ Roses and teaches her toys how to do the dance. After singing it once we’re usually made to sing it another 4 or 5 times before changing to the Hokey Cokey for one verse and then back to Ring a Ring o’ Roses! Recently she’s also been joining in with the singing, usually with the first and last words of each line.

Since Eilidh’s been very young she’s really liked shakers and anything that makes a sound when shaken. This can be in accompaniment to any music playing or just to make a noise. She also loves playing with her tambourines. Recently she’s discovered Mummy’s penny whistle and will play it simply to make a noise or to ‘play along’ with the Red Hot Chilli Pipers DVD. Here’s a photo of her in action:

36 weeks

Here’s a photo of Jo versus the lounge door at 36 weeks into the rematch (not a lot of change since the last photo at 33 weeks):

By the looks of things, she’s not as big as she was at roughly the same stage into her pregnancy with Eilidh (original match).

Dirty, wet socks!

Poor Eilidh turned up to nursery today without any shoes on. She still wanted to play outside with her friends so she came home with very dirty and wet socks. Fortunately there was a change of socks in her bag so she didn’t have to suffer for the rest of the day. We wouldn’t like to blame the lack of shoes on any individual but, just so people know, Mummy and Daddy do one nursery run each; Mummy picks Eilidh up at the end of the day!!

20 Months old already

Eilidh is 20 months old today and we feel really bad that we’ve not posted anything about her for a couple of months, especially given how much she’s done. In that time, she had Grandma and Grandpa visit for Easter:

She’s had a visit from Grandma, Grandad, Uncky Rhys, Auntie Cam, cousin Charis, Tito Toby and Tita Wiggly all at the same time…

… and she’s had a lovely holiday with all of them in Center Parcs, Whinfell Forest. Here’s a nice picture of her and Charis with their Grandma and Grandad:

We’ve also had abnormally awesome weather in Market Harborough and she’s had great fun in the garden. We had a lovely capoeira barbecue. Here’s Eilidh playing capoeira with Andy before the crowds arrived:

Last weekend was quiet with just the three of us playing in the garden, so we broke out Eilidh’s new bargain paddling pool (<£3!) and had great fun with that. Here's Eilidh dancing with Daddy in it:

33 weeks … eeek!

The time is flying by so quickly. Jo is keeping well but beginning to flag a bit in the evenings. She was also a bit slow in cycling home after swimming last weekend but we’re not sure if this was due to the pregnancy or the puncture we discovered later! Here’s how the rematch against the lounge door is going:
