Conversations with Kaelyn

giggles
It’s about time Kaelyn had her own blog entry. She’s a very happy and contented little baby and chatters away throughout the day. Here are some of her babblings…

Eilidh 2!

As you can see, we’re not the most efficient at posting news since Eilidh’s birthday was over 3 weeks ago, but thought it was a milestone that should be documented.
Eilidh had a lovely day and got lots of smashing presents. We spent the day at Kids Play, Kettering:

and had a small tea party in the evening with a few of her friends. Mummy’s awesome hedgehog cake also made an appearance:

The following weekend the four of us ventured north to the Geordie grandparents whilst the Teuchter grandparents headed south to meet us there. We had a lovely time together:

and even got out on her new bike:

Eilidh’s New Room

Eilidh has moved into her new big room with her new big bed that she can climb in and out of.

By popular demand, Eilidh has decided to mark the occasion by releasing her latest music video. This one’s dedicated to you, Emilia! Watch out for Kaelyn busting out some crazy dance moves in the background…

Baa Baa Black Sheep

Eilidh sang this little nursery rhyme to Kaelyn tonight. To clear up any confusion, she initially yells “biscuits” to the camera (she always does this when she sees a camera).

Big Girl Pants!

Eilidh has been potty training for about a week now and she’s doing really well. She’s been wearing big girl pants this weekend with no accidents and is really keen to use the toilet or potty. We’ve still to gauge the true urgency after a desparate cry of “WEE WEE COMING!” or “POO POO!” but things are definitely progressing.

We didn’t really want to post a picture of Eilidh in her big girl pants but we thought that this illustrated how grown up she’s becoming:

Smiles

Given what she has to put up with, Kaelyn is a pretty contented baby. She’s been sleeping through the night (7.30pm-7am ish) since she was approximately 6 weeks old. Over the last few weeks Kaelyn has started to smile more and more. Here are some of our favourites:

Holiday in Spain

We’ve been a little slow at posting anything about our Spain holiday with Grandma and Grandpa, Uncle Graeme, Auntie Katherine and Cousin Serena. It was a great opportunity for all the cousins to get together for the first time since we were all in the same continent for a change. Below are the proud grandparents with all 3 grandchildren:

We all had fun playing on the beach, or just relaxing whilst others played on the beach…

Daddy’s car

Today, at tea-time, we had the following conversation:
Eilidh: Eilidh borrow Daddy’s car, please?
Glyn: Maybe when you’re a bit older. I wasn’t expecting to have this conversation for another 15 years…
Eilidh: Eilidh nearly 2!

E-I-E-I-O

Eilidh is very proud of her baby sister and has been eager to help out where she can with nappy changes, fetching clothes and entertaining:

Reckon we could get a recording contract there?
We had a great chilled out day yesterday after the trauma of the day before. Here is our first photo together as a family of four:

When Eilidh was asked what exciting event had happened that she was going to tell everyone at nursery about tomorrow, her reply was “Raining, park!”.

Kaelyn Ishbel Cowe

After a frantic car trip to Leicester General Hospital, Kaelyn Ishbel Cowe was born within ten minutes of arrival- just enough time for a panicked Daddy and an equally panicked hospital porter to extract Mummy from the car into a wheelchair and get her into a delivery room. Two pushes and out she popped with only about an hour’s worth of excrutiating pain.

Kaelyn was born on 18th July 2009 at 15:54 and weighed 6 lbs 14 oz. Her name is pronounced Kay-Lin (we thought it only fair to pick a name that she’s unlikely to be able to spell until she’s 12 so she doesn’t have an unfair advantage over her big sister).
Kaelyn’s middle name, Ishbel is a derivation of her maternal Great Granny’s name (Isobel).
Paternal grandparents are particularly proud that contractions first started in a pub and Jo managed to make her way through an ice-cream in the town square before admitting that Daddy and Eilidh were going to have to get the car since she didn’t reckon she’d be able to make the walk home through the park.
More posts to follow soon…. (promise)
